In my copy - which is the Ravette edition - Jean's mum is referred to as Mum, whereas
in Phantom Horse she is referred to as Mummy. I am not sure if this is a change by
the publishers, or that in the first edition - which was published 15 years after

being Jim Morrow's horse, whereas in Phantom Horse he belonged to the Smythes.

Sam's mother also appears, but is just called "Sam's mum".
Candy Stops A Train
Unlike any of her other series, it is not obvious which one is first and which one
is second, as they were both published at the same time, and begin at the same place
(i.e. it doesnt say in the course of any of the books the family is just getting
the pony). Like the Sophy series, this was meant for younger reader than most of
CPT's works, although this has more words than the Sophy books overall. CPT makes
a reference in Candy Stops a Train to Good Riding, which was a book that Christine
had published 14 years prior to this one.

& buy from shops, go to the post office etc, none of the people they meet is given
a name.
* = a charlady means English house cleaner.
Kinship - The Macgregors are all Scottish, and talk of kinship in the book. I don’t
know if it has been changed in later editions (I am using the Collins Crown edition),
but as I had to look it up, I thought I would mention it, especially as it is rarely,
if at all, used these days. In fact, this book has a very Scottish tone to it.
The Chill Valley Hounds Series
This series is taken from the J A Allen pbs: they say they are revised, so I am hoping

There are a few more characters but they aren’t given specific names.
I noticed a couple of discrepancies: firstly in this book Sandy & Laurence's surname
is described as Darlington, but in the two previous books it is described as Dashwood.
I dont know if CPT or the publishers are to blame, as I don’t have another copy to
check. Another is that Mr Peterson and Major Sunderland are described as huntmasters
to the Waynesbury Hunt, whereas in the previous book they were described as Waynesbury
Chase.
