Cobbler’s Dream

The latest edition of Cobbler’s Dream was re-named New Arrival at Follyfoot.

 

Several characters’ names change in the Follyfoot books, depending on the edition.  The Captain is later called the Colonel and Paul becomes Steve.

 

Main characters

The Captain - Manager of Follyfoot

The following characters all work at Follyfoot:

Paul, ex-borstal boy

Dora, lives with Uncle (Dick Catchpole) and his wife

Slugger Jones, apprentice jockey in his youth and became a boxer

Ronnie Stryker, has red hair and rides a motorbike

Uncle, (Dick Catchpole) is a long-term employee.

 

Tiny is an ex lady-wrestler and is Slugger Jones’ wife

 

Anna Sheppard - the Captain’s secretary

Callie is Anna’s 12 year old daughter

 

Other characters

Mrs Berry –rescues horses from the slaughter house

Chrissy – spoilt girl who beats up her pony Cobbler’s Dream

Jean Sheppard, Anna’s daughter-in-law, married to Peter – Callie and Anna live with them for a while.

The Night Riders – Vicious motorcycle thugs who steal and injure horses, using wire in their mouths as bits.

The Hyena – A previous dodgy acquaintance of Paul’s.

Tom - ex miner, head horse keeper to the pit ponies

Phyllis, Tom’s daughter and married to George.

Arthur – Phyllis’s brother

Darlene, Sandy and Sandra - Phyllis and George’s grandchildren

Corinne – helped at Follyfoot for a short while
