Pantomime Ponies

Ian Kendall - a boy in the story. Main character, appears in every single book. Is an orphan.

Angela Kendall - a girl in the story. Main character, appears in every single book. Sister to Ian, also orphan.

Aunt Mavis - an aunt that Ian & Angela had been staying with (referred to only)

Arthur Perry, generally referred to as "Uncle Arthur" - Main character, Ian and Angela go to live with him. Runs a shop which is described as "Newsagent, Tobacconist and Confectioner". Appears in every single book.

Cousin Jack - a reference, as it is said "You'll be Cousin Jack's kids", presumably their late father.

May Pearson - an person in the shop. Neighbour to Arthur.

Partner - a ginger cat, owned by Arthur

Bluey - a blue budgerigar, owned by Arthur

Magic - a cream coloured pony, owned by Arthur. Main equine character, appears in every single book.

Moonshine - a cream coloured pony, owned by Arthur. Main equine character, appears in every single book.

Grace Lawley - another neighbour, helps Uncle Arthur with the two children.

Mrs Randall - Uncle Arthur's assistant

Donnie Shaw - a singer, not really clear, just referred to as "the one who makes all the records". Only really referred to in the story.

Julie - a girl in the chorus line

Frank - a stage manager

Buttons - a character in the play in which the ponies take part

Jane - a girl who lives nearby, a fan of Magic and Moonshine

Simon - a boy who lives nearby, a fan of Magic & Moonshine. Younger brother of Jane.

Daniel - a boy who lives nearby, a fan of Magic & Moonshine. Younger brother of Jane, brother to Simon.

Dan - a boy who lives nearby, younger brother to Jane. Possibly the same person as above.

Alan - a boy who lives nearby, older brother to Jane

Mrs Crosbie - a neighbour (referrred to only)

George Manners - the landlord of where Arthur lives

Champney's - a local brewery, has Shire horses

Mr Pat Massey - the brewery's stable foreman

Midnight - a Shire horse

Bomber - a Shire horse

Bill - a worker at the brewery

Frank - a (horse) driver at the brewery

Mr Salter - a man who helps Arthur to find grazing

Corrina Denshaw - daughter of one of the other entertainers, brother to Kaye

Streamer - a grey pony, competitor in a race in which Magic & Moonshine compete

Mrs Patson - another competitor in the race, becomes a friend to Arthur & the children

Southwind - a Welsh pony stallion belonging to Mrs Patson

Mandy - a woman who works at Mrs Patson's place

Dan Halliday - another competitor

Mandy Halliday - a groom for Dan Halliday

Lewis Stanton - another competitor

David - a referee at a competition which Arthur & the children attend

Mrs Merle - headmistress at Ian & Angela's school (referred to only)

 

Mr Massey is referred to, but does not play any part in the story, as is the case with Mrs Handry, Jasper and Big Ben (see previous books).

Ivy - Clive's sister

Gina - Clive's sister, also sister to Ivy

Mrs Jill Dexter - a woman who organises riding for the disabled kids in the vicinity and who owns a couple of ponies that have previously been used for disabled persons.

Pam - a girl who comes with Mrs Dexter & helps her

Sarah - a girl who comes with Mrs Dexter & helps her

Bramble - a Fell pony belonging to Mrs Dexter

Smokey - a grey pony belonging to Mrs Dexter

Sandy - a pony belonging to Mrs Dexter

Tam - a brown pony belonging to Mrs Dexter

Danny - a disabled boy in the story

Sharon Seely - a girl who played Cinderella in a pantomime that the ponies appeared in (referenced only)

 

 

Bill (from Champney's) is also referred to, but doesn’t play a major part. Similarly both Mr Richard Champney (owner of Champney's) and Rebecca [from Ponies by the Sea], are referred to.
