Horses is Like People

Hodder & Stoughton, 1979, illus Beryl Saunders

Now that she’s moved to Keynford, Lolly has a five mile journey to visit her pony, Knocker.  She’s not too keen
on her stepfather, Hiram, either.  When Lolly finds a new home for Knocker, he’s not at all keen on it - just as
reluctant to adapt to new situations as is Lolly.

Beaver, pb, 1981

Lolly keeps her pony Knocker in Top Field.  The only problem is that to get there, Lolly
has to walk past an old stone cottage, where Old Jacob lives.  Old Jacob frightens Lolly
silly, but unless she overcomes her fear, she’ll never get Knocker ready for the show.
